Our Services

At The New Shul, we believe in the power of traditional Hebrew prayer to raise us up spiritually. The depth and resonance of the language  make it a powerful tool to unlock religious feelings, even for those who are not proficient in it.  Our style of worship is “traditional-egalitarian,” meaning that we use an Orthodox prayer book (Hasidic Nusah S’fard), but there is no separation of the sexes, and women participate as equals with men.  We use song – sometimes without words – to infuse our prayers with joyful energy, drawing heavily on the music of the hasidic tradition.

The New Shul’s Shabbat services are on Friday evenings from 6 to 7 pm, and on Saturday mornings from 9 to about noon. Shabbat morning is our main gathering time during the week, with the largest attendance.  The service  is followed by a kiddush-lunch, to which everyone is invited.

Weekday services at The New Shul are on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am, and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 6:30 pm.
